Obviously, as we age, we learn. But do we give up something when many of the mysteries of the universe slowly unfold? When ignorance becomes knowledge?
No. I believe there is delight to be had in both stages.
When tiny, I would gaze on a beautiful flower and not yet comprehend how it bloomed. My ignorance produced in me a combination of mystery and awe that was truly amazing; it would send a shiver down my spine.
But so is the flip side of the coin: now I can look at a beautiful flower with respect and awe because I understand the minute details that go into making the blossom appear. And that knowledge is also, truly amazing.
